Thunderstorm warning issued for eight states and Labuan


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are forecast for several Malaysian states including Kedah, Perak, and Kelantan.

The Meteorological Department issued the warning at 11.10pm on Tuesday (Dec 3), predicting severe weather in Kedah (Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik and Baling) and Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim).

In Kelantan, areas such as Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Gua Musang are expected to be affected, along with Terengganu.

Pahang regions including Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub and Jerantut are also on alert, as well as Selangor (Sabak Bernam).

In Sarawak, Sri Aman (Lubok Antu), Sarikei (Sarikei, Julau and Meradong), Sibu, Mukah, Kapit (Song and Kapit), Bintulu, Miri and Limbang will experience adverse conditions.

In Sabah, the Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Keningau) and West Coast areas (Papar, Putatan, Penampang and Kota Kinabalu) are included in the warning, alongside the Federal Territory of Labuan.

This warning is in effect until 3am on Wednesday (Dec 4).
