IPOH: Members of the public have been urged not to visit the flood-hit Taman Arena Kampung Kepayang just to observe the situation.

Perak Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) operations chief Ricky Soong noted that some people were entering the area merely to take photographs.

"The roads are muddy and can be slippery, posing a danger to them.

"If people want to come and help clean the victims' homes, we welcome them to do so," he said when met at Taman Arena Kampung Kepayang on Monday (Dec 2).

"We hope the items distributed to the victims can help them," he added.

About 20 members of the state CRSM team and Ipoh Barat MCA have visited the residential area to distribute food and necessities, including water, dry food, and cleaning detergents to about 100 homes there.

Ipoh Barat MCA Youth chief Chung Kok Heung expressed hope for volunteers and Good Samaritans to assist the victims.

"If there are still people who want to make donations, send more daily goods, or help, please contact me.

"We do need people to help manage traffic here, as it's quite chaotic with all the tow trucks and damaged cars," he said, adding that he can be contacted at 016-515 1988.

"We also urge government agencies to send more people to help clean up the area.

"I can also be contacted if there are senior citizens who require help to clean their homes," he added.
