Man arrested for burning down own house in Sungai Buloh


SUNGAI BULOH: A man was arrested after burning down his own house here Saturday.

In a statement on Sunday (Dec 1), Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said that the suspect was arrested after he was caught by members of the public on Saturday (Nov 30).

"Information from witnesses showed that the suspect had burned his own house resulting in the fire spreading to other homes in the area. The 34 year old man was caught by members of the public and was handed over to the authorities.

"As of now, investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact motive behind the incident. He has been remanded until Dec 4," he said.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, when contacted, said that the fire affected three houses.

One house was completely burned down, with the other two burnt around 80% and 70% respectively.

He added that a firefighter was injured during efforts to extinguish the fire. "The victim is conscious and was brought to the Sungai Buloh hospital," he said.
