More than 30 flood victims evacuated after homes inundated by floodwaters in Johor


JOHOR BARU: A total of 33 flood victims from nine families have been evacuated to a temporary relief centre after their homes were inundated by floodwaters.

The State Disaster Management Committee said that the affected families are from Kampung Parit Bengkok in Gambir. The relief centre was opened at 10.15am on Friday (Nov 29).

“As of 2pm, 33 individuals have been relocated to SK Bukit Rahmat. The number of flood victims is expected to rise,” it said in a statement.

The statement added that two rivers have reached critical levels; Sungai Muar near Kampung Awat and Sungai Tangkak near Kampung Seri Makmur.

Additionally, Jalan Persimpangan Kahang Timur (KM79) has been closed to light vehicles, and only one lane is accessible at KM81.
