Man with long criminal record killed in shootout with Seremban cops


SEREMBAN: Police have shot dead a 38-year-old man who is believed to be involved in various criminal activities at Jalan Persiaran Seremban 2/1 here.

Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department, conducting a preventive patrol in the district at around 10.30pm on Wednesday (Nov 27), spotted a black car driven by the suspect.

"Police team tried stop the car for inspection but the suspect, who hails from Klang, crashed into the police car and several gunshots were heard coming from the suspect's vehicle.

"In self-defence, the police team retuned fire with several shots," he told reporters on Thursday (Nov 28).

He said when the firing stopped, police checked the car and found the man unconscious inside, who was later confirmed dead by a medical officer.

He said a 9mm Llama pistol with two bullets were found in the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Dzaffir said a check revealed that the had a record of eight drug and crime cases and is also wanted for an organised crime case in Penang.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code and Section 3 of the Firearms Act 1971. – Bernama
