MetMalaysia: Red alert issued for parts of East coast of Peninsular Malaysia until Nov 29


PETALING JAYA: The continuous rain alert has been upgraded to the red or danger alert for parts on the East coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

In an advisory issued by Meteorological Department at 1pm on Tuesday (Nov 26), continuous torrential rain has been forecast for Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman) and Pahang (Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin).

Other parts of the country that will see severe continuous rain or orange alert are Kedah (Padang Terap, Sik and Baling), Perak (Hulu Perak), Kelantan, Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Temerloh and Bera) and Johor (Mersing).

Also seeing continuous rain for alert or yellow levels are Perlis, Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Penang, Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta and Kampar), Pahang (Raub and Bentong), Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru) • Sabah: Sandakan (Telupid, Beluran and Sandakan) and Kudat.

The warning is until Friday, Nov 29.
