Man arrested after assaulting victim over loud motorcycle noise complaint


JOHOR BARU: Police arrested a 26-year-old man after a 59-year-old local man was assaulted for complaining about loud motorcycle exhaust noise.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said that the incident occurred after the victim confronted the suspect.

“The suspect, dissatisfied with the complaint, became aggressive and struck the victim with a wooden stick. As a result, the victim sustained bruises on his left arm.

“Following a report lodged by the victim, a team from the Seri Alam District Criminal Investigation Department apprehended the suspect around 4.10 pm on Tuesday (Nov 26) in the Masai area,” he said in a statement here on Tuesday.

Supt Mohd Sohaimi added that the police also confiscated a wooden stick believed to have been used in the assault.

“Initial urine tests on the suspect came back negative for drugs, and he has no prior criminal record,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing harm, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.

Police have urged the public to come forward and report any criminal activity to their nearest police station or contact the Seri Alam District Control Centre at 07-3871422 or the hotline at 07-3861422.

Earlier, a 24-second video went viral on X (formerly Twitter) showing a man wearing a yellow t-shirt waving around a stick to a man and a woman in front of a house.

At the time of writing, the video has gained more than 500,000 views.
