CAMERON HIGHLANDS: A lorry has crashed into a goldsmiths shop in Tanah Rata here on Wednesday.

An accident occurred at around 3.30pm here on Wednesday (Nov 13), involving two lorries and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

Cameron Highlands district police chief Superintendent Azri Ramli said that initial investigations found that the vegetable-laden lorry, driven by a 29-year-old man, was travelling from Brinchang towards Ringlet when it collided with the rear of another lorry parked on the roadside.

He said the impact caused the other lorry to surge forward, which hit a parked MPV before crashing into the goldsmiths shop on the other side of the road.

"The drivers of the parked lorry and MPV were not in their vehicles," Sinar Harian reported him as saying.

He added that no one was injured, including those in the shop.

He said investigations found the accident was most likely caused by negligence on the part of the first lorry driver.

The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
