PASIR GUDANG: A local man was arrested about three hours later after robbing a senior citizen who was home alone at her house in Taman Kota Masai near here.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said that police detained the 37-year-old suspect on Tuesday (Nov 12) also at Taman Kota Masai.

“Earlier, the suspect had entered the victim’s house at 12.57am,’’ he said in a statement.

Supt Mohd Sohaimi said the suspect placed a knife at the victim’s neck and demanded the victim hand over her tablet worth RM2,000.

“The 79-year-old victim did not suffer any injuries,’’ said Supt Mohd Sohaimi.

He said police seized a mobile phone, a tablet, a knife, a sling bag and clothes from the suspect, adding that the suspect has 15 criminal records.

The case is being investigated under Section 392/397 of the Penal Code and the suspect has been remanded for seven days from Nov 12 until Nov 18, to assist with investigation.

“The suspect also tested positive for methamphetamine,’’ said Supt Mohd Sohaimi.

He called upon those who have information on criminal-related activities to contact Seri Alam Police District headquarters at its hotline 07-3871422.
