Indonesian man killed by falling log


KUALA TERENGGANU: An Indonesian man was killed by a falling log in a logging area in Kampung Hulu Paka, Bandar Al Muktaffi Bilah Shah (AMBS) around noon yesterday.

AMBS Fire and Rescue Station chief Noor Fadzly @Rudy Md Nor said the victim, 54, died after his head was hit and leg was caught by the log, adding that they received a call about the incident at 2.34pm and mobilised nine firefighters with two engines to the location.

"We received the information from the police alerting us there was a victim crushed by a log in the location while doing logging work.

"As soon as the team arrived at the location at 4.15pm due to adverse road and weather conditions, they found the victim was crushed by a 250cm-circumference log.

The victim was confirmed dead at the scene and the body was handed to the police,” he said in a statement today. - Bernama
