KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government is aiming to make the state cleaner by reviewing all relevant by-laws and ordinances, including those related to waste management.
Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam said this initiative by the state Local Government and Housing Ministry (KKTP) was part of ongoing efforts to improve cleanliness and the quality of life for the people.
Gunsalam, who is also the Local Government and Housing Minister, said this when launching the "Bio Green Machine" at the Sabah Credit Corporation (SCC) building in Penampang near here on Monday (Nov 11).
The Bio Green Machine is designed to process large quantities of organic or food waste, converting it into valuable by-products such as fertiliser.
Gunsalam said the state government, through the KKTP, fully supported such innovative solutions because they not only contribute to a cleaner environment in Sabah but also have economic benefits.
The machine is locally manufactured, supporting the state's economy, he added.
He also encouraged eatery operators and food producers to adopt this technology, noting that it could significantly ease their problems and at the same time making Sabah a cleaner, more sustainable place to live.
The event also saw the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Redwin Technologies Sdn Bhd (RTSB), the sole supplier of the product, Sabah Credit Corporation (SCC), as the financier, and Eco Greenpia Sdn Bhd, the manufacturer of the Bio Green Machine.
