Woman found dead in house room in Ipoh, nephew arrested


IPOH: A 54-year-old local woman was discovered dead inside a room of a house here.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said police received a call at about 8.31am on Sunday (Nov 10) from the public stating they found the victim unconscious inside a room in a house in Taman Puteri Lindungan Bintang, Pasir Puteh.

Initial investigations revealed the victim's body was already in a decomposed condition.

The body was taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital’s forensic unit for a post-mortem.

Swift action in the investigations led to the arrest of a 21-year-old local man, believed to be the victim’s nephew, for further investigations.

The remand application will be made on Monday (Nov 11) at the Ipoh Magistrate’s Court.

The suspect’s urine test came back negative, and he has no prior criminal records.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
