Viral video showing dead stray dogs in a pit under investigation

IPOH: The police are looking into the motive behind a viral video uploaded by an individual showing carcasses of stray dogs in an undisclosed area in Manjung.

Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Hasbullah Abd Rahman said the Manjung Municipal Council lodged a report on Nov 9 at about 10.53pm.

In their report, the council stated that the information in the video shared by the social media account holder "kyrildescobar" was not accurate.

The 16-second video showing recordings of dog carcasses in a pit does not reveal the entire location of the site.

The account holder claimed the site was in Manjung, which is believed to be incorrect.

The case is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988.

On Nov 9, an animal activist in Manjung claimed that stray dogs deep in the jungles of Segari are being shot.

Khairil Azhar Khairuddin, 48, said that local residents and activists have heard gunshots from the jungle followed by cries of distressed animals.

The former Manjung District Councillor claimed that residents near the forest are afraid to take videos of what are supposedly local authorities bringing the dogs into the jungle.
