Melaka Christians to carnival to feed, entertain underprivileged community

MELAKA: Melaka Christians rally to feed the underprivileged community during the "Bless Melaka Carnival" that will be held on Saturday (Nov 9).

Southern Region Priest and Pastor of Anglican Church Rev Thomas Cherian said that the Melaka Mall in Ayer Keroh here would be transformed into a carnival atmosphere, featuring an array of music, performances and mouthwatering cuisines.

"Bless Melaka Carnival 2024 is a special event designed to uplift underprivileged communities in the state through an exciting day of food, fun and entertainment.

"This event aims to spread joy and showcase goodwill to the community," he said in an interview on Thurs (Nov 7).

Cherian said the event was also a platform to serve the poor, needy and elderly citizens.

"It meant to give an opportunity to the groups to experience and enjoy the carnival," he said.

He said coupons for the carnival were still available and those interested in participating can contact 019-6231023 or 06-3341121.

Cherian was also instrumental in organising the harmony walk and colourful procession here on Oct 19.

The event was held to celebrate 500 years of Christian heritage in the state.

The 4km walk was also to appreciate the state's vibrant cultural composition and its multiethnic and multi-religious population.

Christians from various places including Klang Valley, Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak also took part in the event.

The route of the walk also covered various iconic churches and streets in the city.
