Man fined RM100 for mocking civil servant


IPOH: For mocking a civil servant and the Perak Road Transport Department (JPJ), a 58-year-old man was fined RM100 by a Magistrate’s Court here.

Samsudin Yoep pleaded guilty when the interpreter read the charge before magistrate Siti Nora Shariff here yesterday.

According to the charge sheet, Samsudin had on Oct 22 at about 9am at the JPJ office in Kampung Simee told a staff named Zuriada Basri, 52, who was on duty at the counter that “JPJ kena bayar dulu, baru kerja jalan” (JPJ must be paid first, then only work will get done).

It was also mentioned in the charge sheet that the accused had said this with the intention of disrupting the peace.

The charge was framed under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, with a maximum fine of RM100.

According to the facts of the case, the accused had repeated the words several times.

The JPJ staff then lodged a police report, and the accused was arrested on Oct 23.

Samsudin paid the fine.
