Man detained in Ampang for insulting cops on TikTok


AMPANG: A male Myanmar national was detained for allegedly making disparaging remarks about the police in a TikTok video.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail reported that the 45-second video was discovered on Monday (Oct 28).

He stated that the individual used crude language to insult the police and noted that the video had amassed 160,000 views.

The suspect, a man in his 30s, was arrested in Pandan Jaya at about 7pm on Monday.

He tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, and has been remanded until Friday (Nov 1) for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 504, 353, and 186 of the Penal Code, along with Section 233 of the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission Act 1998, according to ACP Mohd Azam.
