Nepali attempted kidnapper sent for psych evaluation, says the police

SUNGAI BULOH: The Nepali man who attempted to kidnap a child here has been sent for a psychiatric evaluation, says the police.

Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor, when contacted, said that the 38-year-old suspect had attempted the kidnapping because he missed his own two children, who were of a similar age.

“It is due to him missing them that he acted irrationally. The last time he had returned home was for the 2023 Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays.

“He has been referred to the Sungai Buloh psychiatric department for evaluation and we are awaiting results,” he said.

He added that the police will liaise with the Immigration Department regarding his entry papers and work permit.

On Oct 22, the suspect had attempted to flee after trying to abduct a two-year-old boy.

He was stopped by members of the public around 500m from the scene before being handed over to the police.
