Two foreigners succumb to injuries after Iskandar Puteri warehouse fire


ISKANDAR PUTERI: The police have confirmed the deaths of two foreign nationals who were seriously injured in a fire that engulfed three warehouses in an industrial area here.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the deceased were one man in his 30s and another in his 40s.

"The first victim died around 10pm on Friday (Oct 11), and the second passed away at approximately 2.15pm on Saturday (Oct 12). The third victim is still in hospital," he said on Saturday (Oct 12) evening.

Post-mortem examinations revealed that both victims died from severe burn injuries.

It was initially reported on Thursday (Oct 10) that three foreign workers were critically injured following a significant blaze at the SiLC industrial area.

Fire and Rescue Department Deputy Director Muhammad Al Mustakim Abdul Hadi said that they were alerted to the fire at about 11.34am on Thursday.

Nine foreign workers were present, with three sustaining first-degree burns over 30% of their bodies.
