Man injures arms escaping house fire in Keningau


KOTA KINABALU: A man sustained injuries to his arms while escaping from his burning house in Kg Patikang Ulu, Keningau district, early on Sunday (Oct 13).

The victim was trying to flee and alert others about the fire, which engulfed three adjacent houses made primarily of plywood and zinc.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department officials received a distress call at around 6.50am and arrived at the scene by 7am.

The injured man received initial treatment before being taken to the hospital for further medical attention.

The three houses were completely destroyed, but fortunately, no other casualties were reported.

The operation concluded at 9.47am.

Meanwhile, in Kudat, a car workshop and two vehicles were destroyed in a pre-dawn fire at Kampung Pengaraban.

The fire, believed to have started at around 2am, resulted in no injuries.

Fire department officials managed to control the fire by 3.33am and completed their operations at 4.02am.
