Anwar urges Malaysians to engage in sports for better health

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged Malaysians to engage in sports to maintain their health.

In a post on his Facebook account, Anwar said participation in sports activities could also strengthen family and community relationships.

"In conjunction with this year’s National Sports Day celebration, which is being held with great enthusiasm across the country, I hope the culture of sports will continue to be practised in building an active lifestyle towards becoming a sporting nation. Happy National Sports Day 2024!” he said.

Earlier, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh said more than 4.5 million people participated in various sports and recreational activities nationwide in conjunction with National Sports Day 2024.

Introduced in 2015, the celebration aims to promote and popularise sports among the public through the practice of an active lifestyle towards a sporting nation. - Bernama
