PENANG Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) chairman RSN Rayer has dismissed calls for him to resign, saying they are mere political machinations, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The Jelutong MP said at the Penang DAP general assembly such calls were coming from certain people hiding behind others who complained about everything.Since becoming chairman, he said, he had put a stop to the RM200 allowance given to the 10 commissioners for every meeting attended, saving the board RM100,000. A further RM120,000 in annual savings was realised by eliminating the RM10,000 salary for the chairman.

> A Bangladeshi cricket fan was deported after falsely claiming he was attacked during a match between India and Bangladesh in New Delhi, Makkal Osai reported.

The man, identified as superfan Tiger Rafie, attended a match Sept 28 and claimed that he was suddenly attacked by opposing fans.

Tiger Rafie, who was suffering from lung cancer, was apparently in India on a medical visa. He got the nickname Tiger as he attends matches in a tiger costume.
