Video of police vehicle escorting private car to event is fake, says Sepang cops

SEPANG: A video that allegedly showed a police vehicle escorting a private car is fake, police say.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said that the car in the video, vehicle 1204, was indeed under the district but that it had not been escorting a private car.

"Checks showed that it was SL1204 under the patrol team of the Dengkil police station but the date and time have yet to be determined. During a routine patrol, the car's beacon was turned on and the traffic was smooth with no congestion.

"It is believed that the patrol car was followed by a car belonging to the Instagram account holder of 'Rayng899' who uploaded the video and claimed that he was escorted by the patrol car to an unknown event.

"The Sepang police district confirms that this is completely false and was a fabrication to find publicity," he said in a statement on Sunday (Sept 22).

The one-minute video showed the driver of the private car claiming to his passenger that he had woken up late and was rushing to get to his friend’s event.

Driving behind the police car, with his passenger filming him, he said to arrive at the event on time, he had to get a police escort.
