MCA’s Dr Wee congratulates M’sian men’s doubles pair in China Open 2024 win


PETALING JAYA: MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong congratulated Malaysia’s badminton men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani for their championship win of the China Open 2024 in the men’s double event.

“Our badminton players once again made the country proud on the world stage.

“This time round, national men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani won the championship of China Open 2024 in the men’s doubles event.

My heartiest congratulations to the pair!” he posted on his Facebook page on Sunday (Sept 22). The world No. 12 Sze Fei-Izzuddin beat world No. 7 homesters He Jiting-Ren Xiangyu 13-21, 21-12, 21-17 at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Changzhou on Sunday.Xiangyu hurt his lower back at the end of the first game but refused to throw in the towel.

The injury hampered the Chinese pair, especially in the second game, while Sze Fei-Izzuddin remained focused to claim their second title this year after they won the Japan Open last month. It was the independent pair's biggest title in their careers so far.
