Lorry driver in fatal accident in Seremban remanded


SEREMBAN: Police have obtained a two-day remand order on a 38-year-old lorry driver who had tested positive for methamphetamine after being involved in a 10-vehicle pile-up this week.

The order was signed by magistrate Fairuz Syuhada Amran.

A 31-year-old man was killed when his car was pinned under the quarry stone-laden lorry, which also toppled on its side due to the impact of the crash.

The incident happened in Jalan Seremban-Tampin near the Middle Ring Road intersection on Wednesday.

A 48-year-old woman was admitted to the intensive care unit at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital for the case that is being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Seremban police chief Asst Comm Mohamad Hatta Che Din said anyone with information on the incident can contact Insp Fadzilah Mohd Zainuddin at 019-4611 794 or the nearest police station.

Ten vehicles, including two lorries, were involved in the 1.30pm crash. The lorry driver was heading towards Seremban from Tampin when he lost control and ploughed into other vehicles.
