MP brings sweet relief for sugarcane seller

A WOMAN in Negri Sembilan who grows sugarcane to support her family received much needed help from the Jelebu MP, Makkal Osai reported.

For a long time, Jeyanthi Raman has been growing sugarcane on a piece of government land to help her family financially.

MIC Jempol branch members met with Jelebu MP Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias to find a way to help the woman.

Jalaluddin, who is also state rural development, plantation and commodities, agriculture, and food security and cost of living committee chairman, raised the issue during a state exco meeting and obtained approval to allocate three acres of land to grow sugarcane.

The MP met with Jeyanthi and handed over a letter confirming the allocation and promised the land deed would follow soon.

> Local photographer Mohan Raj Nair received RM3,000 in prize money after winning the Datuk Seri Mona Ong Photography Challenge Trophy, the daily also reported.

The inaugural competition, which was hosted by the Johor Indian Business Association, saw 40 local professional and amateur photographers take part.
