Ustaz, trader charged with sexually harassing 16-year-old girls

KOTA KINABALU: An ustaz and a trader will go on trial separately for allegedly sexually harassing 16-year-old students here.

In the first case, trader Mohamad Khan Bayani was accused of asking a girl to perform various types of oral sex on him between 7am and 9am on Jan 3 this year.

The incident allegedly happened somewhere along Jalan Poring-Poring, Manggatal, near here.

Sessions court Judge Hurma Hussain had on Tuesday (Sept 17), fixed Feb 24 and Feb 25, 2025, for his trial dates.

Later, a 71-year-old ustaz was ordered to go on trial from Dec 1 to Dec 12 this year for allegedly touching a girl’s breasts and kissing her face at a house in Inanam, at around 8pm on March 3, 2023.

Their trial dates were fixed after they maintained their non-guilty plea before the judge.

Both accused are currently on court bail pending disposal of their cases.

Earlier, the court was told that several prosecution witnesses would be called in to testify in both trials, respectively.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Batrisyia Mohd Khusri appeared for the prosecution while Datuk Seri Rakhbir Singh acted on behalf of Mohamad Khan and the ustaz was represented by counsel Elhanan James.
