More effective strategies needed to win over voters, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: Political parties need to adopt more effective strategies to win over voters, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

"Voters are more discerning in choosing their leaders and they prefer ones who are consistently visible, which is a challenge to politicians," said Dr Wee in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Sept 18).

He spoke at the "Political Economy Forum 2024: Realities of Political and Economic Challenges in the 21st Century" at the International Youth Centre in Cheras earlier on Wednesday.

"The challenge of the 21st century is the rapid pace of media and technology and parties that can integrate, adapt or control the use of media and technology most effectively will be the winners.

"At the same time, I emphasised that while we maintain our visibility, we need to always speak up on issues relevant to the people and give constructive criticism.

"We are not 'yes men' in the government but we need to be a component in the unity government that is capable of contributing ideas for better implementation of government policies," he said.
