'I am alive and well', says former chief secretary Abdul Halim

PETALING JAYA: Former chief secretary to the government Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali is alive and well and reports of his death are false, says Sedani Innovator Bhd.

In a statement on Monday (Sept 16), the company categorically denied false reports circulating online on the health of Abdul Halim, who is the Sedania chairman.

Abdul Halim also personally expressed his gratitude for the well wishes and prayers but emphasised that there was a need to put an end to the baseless reports.

"I am alive and well. However, the false news has caused unnecessary panic and distress among my family and loved ones.

"Since last night, I have been receiving numerous calls, which has only fuelled anxiety and worry," Abdul Halim said in the statement.

He added that he still enjoyed his regular morning walk and had, in fact, gone for one on Monday morning.

Sedania said that a formal police report and a report to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission was in the process of being made.

It hoped that the authorities would take immediate action to identify the individual or group responsible for the false reports.

"These false reports do nothing but spread fear and confusion. I trust that the authorities will find those responsible for this act," Abdul Halim said.
