A SOUTH Korean couple commended an officer at the Road Transport Department (JPJ) in Kuching for her great attitude and service, in a letter to the department.
Sin Chew Daily reported that one Erica and Mr Sung had visited the office for an application to convert to a Malaysian driving licence.
They said an officer named Aszerina guided them on how to fill out the documents for the conversion.
“She took my questions kindly and with bright smiles. We can’t forget to thank her for being so kind to us foreigners.
“Thanks to her we like Malaysia and Kuching better. Also, the experience of visiting JPJ for the first time became a great memory for us,” said Erica, adding that they later received an email informing them that the local driving licence was ready for collection.
The Sarawak JPJ shared the letter on its Facebook page, thanking the couple for their positive words and pledging to continue to deliver its best services.
> Actress Liu Yifei has been dropped from the shortlist of nominees for Best Actress in the 32nd China TV Golden Eagle Awards, reportedly due to her US citizenship, China Press reported.
In the second round of online voting on the awards, the 37-year-old was no longer on the short list despite having gone through the first round.
Two dramas starring Liu, Meet Yourself and A Dream of Splendour, have been shortlisted for awards.
Many social media users criticised the organisers over the matter, pointing out that if Liu’s citizenship had been an issue, she should not have even made it through the first round of voting.
“Liu returned to further her studies at the Beijing Film Academy and after her graduation, she has devoted herself to an acting career in China. So, she is Chinese with US citizenship,” one said.
The biennial awards, which will be held at the end of this year, is one of three major award ceremonies for the television industry in China.
