Subang cops clarify viral video incident was not a kidnap attemp

SUBANG JAYA: The viral video of a boy approached by an adult man was not of a kidnap attempt, says the police.

In a statement Thursday (Sept 12), Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said that the incident occurred on Sept 10 where a 10-year-old boy was disturbed by an unknown man in a mosque in SS15.

The suspect had held the boy's shoulder and asked for his name and address. However, the victim had immediately run away.

A video of the incident was then shared with allegations that it was a kidnapping attempt.

"The Subang Jaya police deny those allegations," he said.

He added that the case is currently being investigated, including for sexual assault of a child.

ACP Wan Azlan urged the public to be careful when uploading videos or pictures and making statements or comments on social media.
