Unity in diversity: Stay as an example to others in Malaysia, Hajiji urges Sabahans

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has called on Sabahans to celebrate together the various festivals so the state continues to be an example of unity in diversity to others in the country.

The Chief Minister said people in the state have always received the various cultures in Sabah warmly.

“This is the uniqueness and greatness of Sabah that has become an example to other states,” he said when launching the Tuaran Tanglung Festival at Padang Astaka in the Tuaran district on Saturday night (Sept 7).

“We have many festivities that we celebrate together regardless of race and religion.

“The various celebrations such as the Tanglung Festival are among the factors of peace and unite the people,” Hajiji added.

He commended the Lions Club Tuaran for taking the trouble to organise the event, urging such festivals to be held again in the future.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister hoped the people would continue supporting the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) – Pakatan Harapan Plus government to develop the state.

At the same time, Hajiji urged the people not to be influenced by slanders from irresponsible parties.

“We have done a lot after the Covid-19 pandemic, we have planned and implemented many programmes to improve the economy for the people and the state.

“But the government of the day will continue to do its best to resolve these problems but what is important is continuous support from the people so Sabah will progress in Malaysia,” said Hajiji.
