Actress's personal assistant released from lockup on police bail


AMPANG: The personal assistant of a popular actress, who was detained for allegedly stealing her employer's jewellery has been released on police bail.

Ampang Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Nazruel Ekram Abu Saare said the woman was released following the expiry of her remand on Sunday (Aug 18).

"The suspect was released on police bail while we complete the investigation," he said when contacted.

It was reported that the woman was detained for suspected theft at the actress' home in Taman Cempaka here, involving RM30,000 worth of losses on June 26.

Supt Nazruel Ekram had said the woman was detained in the compound of the Gombak district police headquarters and she was subsequently remanded for four days.

The suspect had two prior cases in her criminal record and the case is classified under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft in a building.
