Nine drivers positive for meth nabbed

GOPENG: Nine commercial vehicle drivers, who tested positive for methamphetamine, have been detained by the Perak Road Transport Department under Op Khas, which kicked off on Aug 1 and is being carried out until Aug 31.

Its director Mohammad Yusoff Abustan said the drivers were detained during the first 13 days of the special operation, which was conducted together with the police, National Anti-Drug Agency and PLUS Malaysia on commercial vehicles.

“Although the number is not high, such drivers are capable of causing danger to other road users of heavy and light vehicles,” Mohammad Yusoff said when met during an operation carried out at the Rural Transformation Centre here yesterday, Bernama reported.
