Man killed in car crash near Kluang


KLUANG: A 68-year-old man was killed in a car crash at KM 49 Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident occurred at about 10.30pm on Tuesday (Aug 13) when the victim was heading towards Batu Pahat from the Kluang city centre.

“The incident started when another vehicle, also driven by a 68-year-old man, stopped at the traffic light.

“The victim came from behind rammed into the back of the car; the impact caused the victim to be flung out of his vehicle before landing on the road divider,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 14).

He added that the victim has been identified as Tan Ket Leng and said that Tan suffered a serious head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle was unharmed, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act of 1987.
