Missing teens in Putatan have returned home safely

KOTA KINABALU: A teenage boy surrendered himself at the Penampang police station on Saturday (Aug 10) afternoon, two days after a missing report was lodged by his family members.

Penampang district police chief Supt Sammy Newton said 15-year-old Rezlo Mic Fadden who left home with his 13-year-old cousin Nicholas Chee Ping was found in a good condition.

A missing persons report was filed by the teens' family members on Thursday (Aug 8) when they failed to return home.

Nicholas returned home on Friday (Aug 9) after seeing reports of his disappearance.

“Both teenage boys were reported missing on Aug 8 and have been found safe, unharmed, and in a good condition,” Newton said in a statement.

He also addressed a 32-second audio recording circulating on social media that purportedly related to the teenagers’ disappearance, clarifying that the recording is fake and unrelated to the case.

Newton urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information on social media platforms, as it could cause unnecessary concern.

“We advise parents and guardians to always monitor the whereabouts and interactions of the children under their care to prevent any undesirable incidents,” he added.
