PJ police want social media user who alleged wrongful accusation by cop to come forward

PETALING JAYA: Police have urged a social media user who alleged that a policeman had wrongfully accused him of a traffic offence to come forward.

In a statement Friday (Aug 9), Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulnizam Jaa'far said that a police report on the social media post was lodged on Thursday (Aug 8) by the traffic policeman named in the post.

"The statement by the complainant has been recorded and we will also record statements by the account owner if he cooperates with the police," he said, adding that the police were also tracing down the owner in question.

The X post, which was uploaded on Aug 6, claimed that a traffic policeman had wrongfully accused the poster of not wearing his seatbelt.

The post said that an argument ensued after he denied only putting on the seatbelt after being spotted by the police before he was let go.
