RM1.5mil worth of case items and evidence destroyed

PETALING JAYA: Some RM1.5mil worth of case items and evidence were disposed of during an event attended by Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

The destroyed material included more than 5,000 items from cases investigated by Petaling Jaya district police headquarters from 1990 to 2024.

Among the items were fireworks, bitcoin mining machines, and illegal gambling items.

“Other items included weapons such as knives, machetes and steel rods as well as fake ringgit notes.

“The items are from ... cases that have been completed and the subsequent court proceedings concluded,” he said in his speech at the Ara Damansara police station here yesterday.

On another matter, Comm Hussein said police have yet to receive the full post-mortem report regarding the death of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah.

Investigators in the murder case have searched for evidence at various locations, including at Kampung Sri Keledang in Hulu Selangor, Sungai Trolak in Kampung Batu, Perak, and a tapioca farm in Slim River.

Various items belonging to Nur Farah Kartini have been recovered, including her cellphone and a handbag as well as the suspect’s SIM card.

Police also believe a location in Kampung Sri Keledang is the primary crime scene and the act was committed by a lone perpetrator.

The victim’s body was found at a oil palm plantation in Kampung Sri Keledang, Hulu Selangor on July 15 after she was missing in Tanjung Malim, Perak, on July 11.

Policeman L/Kpl Muhammad Alif Monjani, 26, was charged with Nur Farah Kartini’s murder at the Kuala Kubu Baru Magistrate’s Court recently.
