Nine detained at GOF quarters for ketum possession


PETALING JAYA: A General Operations Force (GOF) member, two locals and six foreigners have been detained for possession of ketum.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan (pic) said the suspects were detained at the GOF Central Brigade quarters on Aug 5.

“They have been remanded to assist with the investigation,” Comm Hussein told a press conference after attending the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters’ evidence disposal event at the Ara Damansara police station yesterday.

He said the police are investigating whether the GOF member used his living quarters to process or distribute the banned substance.

“We also seized nine litres of liquid believed to be ketum juice worth RM200,” he added.

In another case, the remand for three GOF members and a civilian detained in connection with a robbery at a foreign worker’s home in Semenyih, Selangor, is expected to be extended after they expire.

“We are still searching for another suspect who is still at large.

“We have identified him and we believe he is still in the country,” he said.

Comm Hussein said a photofit and details of the suspect will be issued to the media soon.
