Father and stepson plead guilty to raping now-pregnant 15-year-old girl

KOTA KINABALU: Two men have pleaded guilty to the rape of a 15-year-old girl in Sabah's Telupid district following the discovery of her pregnancy by doctors.

The two men are aged 46 and 24 and are the victim's father and step-brother and pleaded guilty when charged before Sessions Court Judge Zaini Fishir @ Fisal.

Both the father and step-brother were handed a 15-year jail sentence with 10 strokes of the cane respectively, and they will be referred to the Immigration Department for deportation after completing their sentence.

The case was discovered after the victim and her mother went to a clinic in the Telupid district on July 11, as she was concerned about her health because she had not had her menses for some time.

Doctors at the clinic discovered that she was pregnant, and a police report was lodged.

The victim's father and step-brother were hauled in for investigations, and it was then found that they had been raping her since last year.

In hearings prior to sentencing, deputy public prosecutor Lim Sze Chuen told the court that the father had been raping the girl since December last year, with the last incident being on July 9 of this year.

He had also threatened to beat her up if she told anyone of the incidents.

The step-brother had been raping her since August last year with the last time in June of this year.
