Zahid congrats Sultan Ibrahim on installation as 17th King of Malaysia


PETALING JAYA: Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi extended congratulations to the newly installed King of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim.

“Congratulating His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim on the occasion of the 17th installation of His Majesty on July 20, corresponding to 14 Muharram 1446H.

“May Allah Subhanahu bless His Majesty's government,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (July 20).

The post was accompanied by a poster of His Majesty and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia.

Earlier Saturday, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, was sworn in as the 17th King of Malaysia at a ceremonious installation steeped in tradition at the Istana Negara marking the start of his five-year reign.

Sultan Ibrahim, 65, from Johor, was seen donning the official ceremonial attire known as Muskat, complete with the Royal headdress, a buckle and a short dagger making up the royal regalia.

His Majesty was accompanied by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia who was clad in gold Baju Kurung Johor attire.

Approximately 700 guests, including Malay rulers, governors and foreign dignitaries and leaders attended the ceremony, which was streamed live on national television.
