Body of missing father found four days after crocodile attack incident

KOTA KINABALU: The body of a man who went missing four days ago after a crocodile attack has been found Friday morning.

His body was found about 1.5km from where he was last seen catching fish in a river at Kampung Sobak Perpaduan in Kinabatangan

The victim, identified as Kami Antong, had initially gone fish netting with his 10-year-old son at a river in the village when they were attacked by the reptile at around 11am on Tuesday (July 16).

His son, however, survived the attack.

Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Services station head N. Azlan Jamaluddin said the remains of the 35-year-old were found at 10.15am by the riverbank.

“The body was found with missing limbs,” he said, adding that his remains have been handed to family members.

He said the search and rescue team, with the assistance of villagers, combed the area, including along the river covering a distance of 5km from where the attack took place.

“We concluded the operation at 1.04pm,” Azlan said.
