Kemaman police chief Supt Hanyan Ramlan said the farmer, who is in his 70s, had gave his statement at the Kemaman police headquarters here at 2pm on Monday (July 15).

"We called him to give a statement first. On whether he will be arrested or not, this is still under consideration," he said.

Hanyan said the a sample of the biscuit has been sent to the Chemistry Department for analysis to determine the type of poison used.

On Sunday (July 14), Hanyan said the teenager, who lives in Kampung Air Putih here, was on his way from his home after fishing at about 2pm on Friday (July 12), when he ate the tainted biscuits he found on the farm.

The victim, Mohd Daynail Haikal Alias, 13, collapsed and was taken to the Air Putih health clinic by his friend's father, before he was referred to Kemaman Hospital.

Meanwhile, the victim's father, Alias Saras, 57, when contacted by Bernama said his son is expected to be released from hospital Monday afternoon.

"God willing, he will return home today. Now we are waiting for the permission letter for his discharge from the ward. His condition is getting better and my son has recovered his appetite," he said, expressing gratitude that his son is now safe.
