Motorcycle collision claims lives of secondary school student, foreigner in Johor

KLUANG: A male secondary school student and a foreigner died after their motorcycles collided at KM78 along Jalan Johor Baru-Air Hitam here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the fatal accident occurred at around 11.15pm on Friday (July 5) night, resulting in the death of two motorcyclists.

He added one of the victims had been identified as 16-year-old Luqman Afiq Amir, while the other victim was believed to be a male Myanmar national in his 40s.

“Initial investigation found that the motorcycle used by the teenager, which belongs to his adopted father, was coming from Machap heading towards Simpang Renggam.

“However, he lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to enter the opposite lane before colliding with the foreigner, who was riding the other motorcycle,” he said here on Saturday (July 6).

ACP Bahrin added that the local youth died at the scene due to severe head and body injuries, while the other victim died while being treated at Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Kluang Hospital here.

He said checks on the two victims found the teenager did not have a driving license, while there were no identification documents on the foreign victim.

ACP Bahrin added that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and urged road users always to be vigilant and adhere to road rules for their safety.
