Lorry driver detained for driving against traffic in Seremban 2


The man was captured in a clip driving against traffic in Seremban 2.

SEREMBAN: A 54-year-old lorry driver caught in a clip driving against traffic has been detained by police.

Seremban police chief Asst Comm Mohamad Hatta Che Din said police have also seized his lorry after a 51-second clip of the incident went viral.

He said the incident happened along Jalan Persiaran S2/3 near Dataran Centrio in Seremban 2 around 11.40am on Friday (July 5).

"We started looking for the suspect after the clip went viral and managed to detain him the same day.

"Upon questioning, the man said he was in the midst of sending goods and was merely following the GPS (global positioning system) as he was not familiar with the area," he said in a statement.

Mohamad Hatta said those with information on the matter can contact investigating officer Sjn Mohamad Azmi at 013 4288599 or the nearest police station to assist in the probe.

The case, he said, is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving which carries a jail term of up to five years and a fine of between RM5,000 and RM15,000 upon conviction.
