SEPANG: A 29-year-old man was detained following a high speed chase, which ended with an accident between the police and the suspect's vehicle at Cybersouth in Dengkil.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said police personnel in a police mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) were patrolling when they spotted the suspect's vehicle along Jalan Cyberjaya-Dengkil at about 9.30pm on Monday (July 1).

"When instructed to stop his vehicle, the suspect sped up and the policemen gave chase.

"The high-speed chase ended at Cybersouth in Dengkil, where an accident occurred between the two vehicles," he said in a statement on Tuesday (July 2).

The suspect was subsequently detained, he said.

"He tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine, THC and benzodiazepines.

"We are investigating under Section 186 and 279 of the Penal Code," he said.

ACP Wan Kamarul Azran advised the public not to speculate and avoid spreading fake news on the incident.
