Sabah Electricity monitoring power stability in Labuan following gas supply disruption

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) will monitor electricity supply stability to Labuan after Petronas shutdown its gas supply terminal on the island for maintenance work.

Sabah and Labuan Grid System Operator Adrian Mosigil said gas supply was stopped at SESB's Patau-Patau Power Station on the island.

"SESB received information about the closure of Gas Receiving Terminal 1 (GRT1) owned by Petronas on the island for the purpose of carrying out maintenance work," he said in a statement Wednesday (June 26).

He said the maintenance closure was from June 26 to July 2, 2024.

Mosigil said that generation capacity to the Sabah Gird would be affected.

However, he said SESB will ensure that the generation margin reserve is sufficient to avoid load shedding to consumers on the island.

SESB will closely monitor the power supply stability, he added.
