Motorcyclist dies after crashing into buffalo in Johor

JOHOR BARU: A 53-year-old motorcyclist died on the spot after ramming into a buffalo while on his way to cross the border into Singapore for work.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the victim was heading to Singapore when the incident took place at Jalan Sungai Tiram at around 3.40am on Tuesday (June 25).

“He was riding from Tebrau towards Singapore when he hit the animal, which was walking along the motorcycle lane.

“The man was severely injured and died on the spot,” Supt Mohd Sohaimi said in a statement on Wednesday (June 26).

The victim’s body was sent to Hospital Sultan Ismail for a post-mortem examination, he added.

A video clip of the incident, recorded with a car dashboard camera, was widely shared on social media.

It showed the victim crashing into the animal along a dark road before his motorcycle was smashed into pieces.
