NIBONG TEBAL: The Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional election machinery should not be over-confident when campaigning, says Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

He said that overconfidence can cause complacency and this will make any effort to recapture the constituency futile.

The Deputy Works Minister said that to help the unity government's machinery, Umno has brought in members from Kedah, Perak and Perlis to help out

He said Umno is working all out to ensure that Pakatan Harapan candidate Dr Joohari Ariffin wins in the by-election and added that he hopes the people will choose the latter as their new representative.

"We are working hard to ensure we win and seize the state seat from the opposition," said Ahmad.

He said this after checking the progress of the new Immigration Detention Depot and Quarters project at Jawi.

The project under Eleventh Malaysia Plan (RMK11) First Rolling Plan is 98% complete and is expected to be fully operational by October.

Accompanying Ahmad were state infrastructure and transport committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari, state Immigration director Nur Zulfa Ibrahim and state Works Department director Ahmad Nadzri Abdul Majid.
