Mentally unsound man nabbed for mum's murder

JEMPOL: A man has been arrested for the alleged murder of his 63-year-old mother.

Jempol police chief Supt Hoo Chang Hook said preliminary investigations have revealed that the 33-year-old suspect, who was the victim's oldest child, was mentally unwell.

"We received a call around noon today about an argument between a mother and her son which led to the mother's death.

"When my men arrived at their house, they found the deceased sprawled in the front yard," he said in a statement on Tuesday (June 25).

Supt Hoo said his officers detained the suspect who was inside the house.

He said police would apply for an order to remand the suspect from the Magistrate's court in Bahau on Wednesday (June 26).

He said a post-mortem would be carried out.
