Laundromat bust yields 28 gas cylinders

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has seized 28 gas cylinders from a laundromat in Taman Ekoperniagaan.

State director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said the cylinders were seized during an operation at noon on June 18 following a public complaint about the storing of regulated controlled goods without a permit, Bernama reported.

She said the operator of the premises failed to produce a permit when requested by enforcement officers.

“We have initiated a case for suspected possession or storing of regulated LPG without authorisation.

“A total of 28 LPG cylinders and several business documents were confiscated to assist in the investigation.

“The LPG-controlled goods wholesaler will also be investigated for selling controlled goods to individuals without a permit,” Lilis Saslinda said in a statement.

She clarified that the case would be investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, which carries a fine of up to RM1mil, imprisonment for up to three years or both, upon conviction.
